Snow Plow Replacement Parts-Is It Time

When it comes to snow plow replacement parts, there is a lot to be
considered. One of The most important thing to consider is time, why? Because if you are broken
down on the side of the road and need a snow plow part immediately, where do you begin. Obviously shopping on line
is not going to help unless it is a very unique part. Most of the local snow plow dealers in your area usually have a good idea on what wears out on the brands they sale and stock those parts in case you do get stuck. So you can get back on the road sooner and not later. You can always ask them what parts on the model plow you have, wears out? It does not hurt you to get a heads up on your plow equipment, before there s a problem.

But in order to keep a break down and snowplow replacement parts to minimum We at Edgeolite came out with a pre-trip inspection for you in previous snowplow articles. The important thing to remember is when ever you need a replacement part in a hurry it is generally more than if you had a chance to price shop for it. So the way to save is to inspect your snowplow to get an idea of what is showing signs of wear and will need to be replaced. Then you can shop around for the snowplow replacement parts you need , chances are you will also find a few new parts that you have not seen that might also interest you.

The most important snow plow parts to look at on your plow are the ones that under go the
most work and movement. You want to look at the plow hoses, pins, plow solenoids, cutting edges they are constantly at work when plowing and will stop you in your tracks if they stop working when plowing. Now that you have a good idea of what could be a potential problem it is not a bad idea to keep a few snowplow replacement parts with you in the truck. I do not know any one company that carries every single replacement part made for every snowplow in stock and if they said they did, I would be have a hard time believing it. So Edgeolite in a few weeks is coming up with a quick replacement parts guide directory for you to use to save you time finding your parts.

Snow Plow Preparation List , YES Before The Storm

Everybody may have a different way to check their snowplow Equipment before
the storm but this works for me. The first thing I do is what is called a
Pre-trip inspection just like you would on a tractor trailer.

Lift the hood on your plow truck , check the engine oil, power steering fluids, windshield washer fluids , and battery connections are tight, check the belts be sure they are not cracked, check the coolant level, (with the truck cold), check the brake fluid and If low it either means your pads need to be changed, or there is a leak. The fluid went some where! Look around in the motor compartment for any loose wires, be sure they are not touching or rubbing through anywhere. OK, now close the hood and proceed to the rest of the inspection.

Get in your snowplow truck check and see that the horn works, the wiper works the heat works, put the truck in 4wd and drive forward a few feet you should feel the difference of resistance when you turn the wheel and drive forward . Then disengage the 4wd and put the transmission back into park. Check that the parking brake is working and releases, check that the brakes are working.

Now check the lights, put on the low beam headlights, parking lights, start at the drivers door out side of your vehicle and walk counter clockwise around your plow truck check the tire lugs, tire pressures, grab the mirrors make sure they are not loose check that the lights are working. Now go back and check high beams and left, right signal lights and brake lights. When you are done with this now we can go on to checking the plow out.

We can now begin to check out the plow. You want to make sure everything is working before you go to work. You want to make sure everything is working fine and not faulty when you need to start snowplowing.
Time is money and we do not want you to have any break downs if we can help it.

Start the vehicle and raise and lower the plow a few times
Check the controls are not loose and cycle the plow with the controls
When you are doing this watch the amp gauge for not over excessive amp draw down in the system.
Raise the plow up and leave it up for a few minutes to make sure it does not drift down
Check the snowplow high beams and low beams are working and adjusted right.
Check the turn signal lights are working and not loose
With the plow down get out and inspect the chain is not worn
Check around all hydraulic cylinders for leaks or dents in the cylinders
Check the snowplow hoses and hose connections
Check the center pivot of the plow for play
Check the plow frame bolts are tight and not loose
Check for any cracks on the welds of the plow
Inspect the snowplow cutting edge, shoes and springs
Look at the snow plow pins and the plow retainer rings

OK now that you inspected your snowplow. Let’s go over a few things you should have
in the truck with you, flashlight, gloves, extra plow pins, extra hose and quick connectors, hydraulic fluid,
Box of fuses, a relay for you plow, Electrical tape, 2 cans of fix a flat, and road flairs.

I have used this list for over 20 years and it has saved me many times. I hope it saves you Happy plowing From Edgeolite.com

Canadian Snow fall breeds Innovation

After spending time researching different styles and shapes of snowplows used on todays
roadways, I decided to do on article on this snow plow product. There are actually many different styles of snow plows made for different geographic areas within North America

However, after coming across a company in CANADA I felt compelled to share with you what I found and why I found it important to report on it. As you know, when we you are out pushing snow moving the majority doesn’t ever seem the same amount of time it takes to d o the final clean up. I do not know why exactly but I think it has to do with detail. Anyway, I found a snow plow manufactuer in Canada called SNO-GATE that makes a plow- gate , that can turn a plow from a regular blade to a additional box plow.

This concept does not only apply to straight blades but also to loader buckets, and ATV plows. The plows are made from heat treated steel. The way it is designed it will hold more snow than you normal plow but then fold back to the original size if needed. This concept, is a different spin then the new v plows concept.

I feel that the main design for these Canadian snowplows is prmiraly for commercial acount and can speed up your clean up time all with the same snowplow. These snowplow gates can be fitted on any size snow plow blade or snow bucket. Once you do the installation they are easy to remove if needed.

It also seems this Canadian snowplow manufacture also offers a 100% factory guarantee on there product for 3 years. According to some projections, the additions on your snowplow can increase the moving capacity by 3 times the amount you are currently plowing. This concept I believe is worth looking at for several reason including eliminating the need for different blades, snow buckets and additional trucks. After trial-testing various product designs and enhancements, the designer, has accomplished his two goals - a design that can be mated with currently existing buckets and at the same time increase the bucket's efficiency

Small Pick Up Trucks Snowplows -it is about time:

For many years most of the big plow manufacturers focused on the need for
snow plows for the full size pick up trucks. But if you haven’t notice for the past 10 years
the pick up truck market has changed. The full size pick up is not the only vehicle size
coming of the assembly line in today’s world. However, the demand for small truck snowplows for this market is not totally un noticed. There are some plow manufacturers out there addressing this demand. But before we get to excited let discuss the different in full size pick up truck opposed to small size pick up trucks. When I look at this type of application, one of the things I look at is the operating weight, Small size pick up trucks have less operating weight when it comes to pushing snow. You want to make sure you put the right size plow on the truck and not A 8 ft plow. Your pushing pressure can only be so much moving mass. So remember to keep the plow scaled to the right small truck. Most small snowplow truck are usually used in tight spots or for home owners driveway an not used to much in the commercial application. The small pick up trucks use a 6ft to 6.5 ft plows and are made in clear Polycarbonate, or steel . The also have light weight sub frames and are be simple to install. They even is a company that makes a plow that can hook up a snow plow to just the tow hooks and You use a remote control for the plow operating with out having to install a additional wiring harness. Remember these small truck snowplows are for light weight snow work. If used for that application you will get years of good service out of them. You can now get a complete small truck snowplow systems with a full certification for under $1300.00 Start the season with a brand new snowplow on your Toyota ,Honda, Dodge, Ford, Montero pick up truck. If you would like more information on small pick up truck plows

Truck Lights -Can You See Me Now?

Truck driving is enough of fatigue on a sunny day, but night time can add a lot more fatigue and stress.
Your body uses up more energy at night to strain to see what is in front and along side of your rig.
You are also fighting on coming glare and let’s not forget the famous wild life that comes out at night
it can be like driving through a zoo. I know I have done it. Remember most truckers do not work 8 hours a day no, no, no try 14 hrs a day.

So I would say better lighting for drivers at night should be common sense. So let’s discuss what’s out
there. I have inspected many of rigs only to find out that there are no additional driving lights on their trucks. I have also found that the ones that do have their driving lights or fog lights on their trucks somebody replaced the bulbs with regular lights, totally useless, at that point do not even turn on your driving lights.

There are companies out there that specialize in this field. The concepts to do and the use of lights
are a big aid in bad weather. I have driven trucks with special driving or fog lights and without, and the correct driving or fog lights make a big, big difference. Lets talk about the difference between fog lights and driving lights,

Fog lights provide illumination forward of the truck that enhances visibility in fog, rain, snow, or dust.
Fog lights are intended to be used in conjunction with standard headlamp low beams. On the other hand driving lights are mounted to provide illumination forward of the vehicle and intended to supplement the high beam of a standard headlamp system, for forward clear projection . It is not intended for use alone or with the low beam of a standard headlamp system. But for me I feel if
truck headlights are adjusted correctly an additional driving light may not be need, in my north eastern area.

However, a good fog light is a necessity. I have found a few good ones that I have used when driving KC square 57 series all season halogen 15000 candle power per beam for fog. This one interested me the PIAA 940 Dual Driving and Fog Light Kit this is driving light and fog light all in one casing which is nice for space especially in a pre cut bumper like many big rigs. Another great company is Per-lux they make 600 series for all purpose lights for big rigs. Basically it comes down to where you are driving do you need fog or driving lights on darker nights, because with these accessories it has less fatigue on you the driver and keeps then safer. ATV SNOWPLOW, Its For You!

ATV snowplows can be excellent for large ranches, farms, industrial complexes and other buildings that may need both snow removal and utility hauling in one machine.

Most snow plowers do not really appreciate the maneuverability of the ATV snowplow vehicle. While other snow plows are configured mainly for the professional. ATV snow plows can be used by anyone. For this reason if you are looking to purchase a good snow plow for your winter needs, you should look for the one that will give you the horse power that you need to move large amounts of snow out of the way. The blade is an important part of your ATV when plowing snow make sure you purchase a good quality blade, with the right curve and size to match your ATV for plowing snow.

You should look at the blade and see if there is a good amount of depth in the blade curve to scoop the snow out of the road or any other surface. You might also want to keep in mind the blade can also be used in all other seasons for other types of chores that need to be completed. Some ATV’s come with a winch and many ATV snowplow equipment owners use their winches to raise the plow up and down when snowplowing. However, if you buy an ATV without the winch, ATV snowplows also come with a manual handle so you can lift the snowplow when needed.

If you are looking for an ATV snowplow there are few brands that I have found to be reasonable priced and reliable ATV, Warns and Snow Bear are a few. ATV snowplows will certainly increase in popularity as the baby boomers start to come into retirement and need help plowing themselves out as well as doing small projects around the property. For the amount of work these little machines can do dollar for dollar, I can see why many people are purchasing these ATV’s either used or new. Remember when this machine is done doing the work it can also be a recreation vehicle for fun.

Do you want more information on these great plows. Edgeolite has a directory of different ATV sites for you to review and find information on ATV snowplows and ATV snowplow accessories. Click here for more information

SNOWPLOW LIGHTS- What do you need to know?

It is that dark time of year again, and night time visibility is low. This is when we start to make decisions
on what type of plow light we put on our vehicles. But before we do that we need to know a little bit about lights.

Snowplow lights come in regular sealed beam and halogen high intensity lighting, xenon. Head lights are measured in the amount of candlepower which is a way of measuring how much light is produced by a light bulb and a lumen is a way of measuring how much light gets to what you want to light! At least this gives you a small basis on what you are looking for. So when you are buying snowplow light s keep this information in mind.

The snowplow light manufacturers now make this systems with different ratings on their lights.
The systems mostly used now are halogens, with separate bulbs for high beams low beams.
Another thing I feel you need to keep in mind especially if you have an old plow and want to up grade your lights. Make sure your old snowplow light harness can handle the up grade. There is nothing more frustrating then installing new plow lights, and the system blows a fuse or relays and you do no know why. Especially when they usually will not blow until after 5 minutes, so just when you think you are fine the lights go out. So make sure your snowplow light harness can handle this increase.

The other thing to keep in mind is how much you want to be seen by other drivers. So you may want to start to think about installing an overhead yellow or over head strobe light. Check with your state laws there could be a requirement if you are going to install an over head strobe light. They also make them in permanent and magnetic. Personally I prefer the magnetic strobe lights It gives me the ability to choose to be removed at any time. The permanent is cheaper but requires some work to install. Please keep this in mind when buying these strobe lights and do not to get a light that is mesmerizing to oncoming drivers. You just want to notify and warn them you are there.

When buying new snowplow lights, ask about any warranties and guarantees that apply with their product. One thing I also want to talk briefly on is a lot of snowplow owners try to cram all kinds of light s in there fuse panel. Before adding any light make sure you have room in your fuse panel for any additional plow lights. When wire splicing make sure you solder, or use butt connectors and then heat shrink tube over all spices. Do not use any type of temporary connections.
Happy snowplowing and remember Edgeolite is here to keep you safer!, and Smarter.

Windshield Glare ,Blocker, it’s that time of year.

Did you ever notice as the sun goes down earlier the head light’s come on earlier, that’s a no brainer.
But people just don’t realize how much smaller everything becomes in the dark.

What I mean by that is the distance our eyes can see, or how easy it is to almost become mesmerized as the 2 red dots of the cars tail lights about 500 ft in front of you just stay there like they are parked, like not moving but they are not stopped, they are moving the same speed as you.

That’s usually when someone comes up behind with there high beams on, and blinds you with the glare from their lights. Just about the same time, a passing car comes form the other way with their high beams on and now you are fighting their glare also. About this time you remember you can not run people off the road, from the frustration of not being able to see.

Now try having this problem in a snow storm or rain storm. You can certainly imagine how amplified the problem of glare gets. Well I’m not going to tell you I found a total solution, but I will tell you there are some products out that can assist you in light glare dilemma’s.

These products are not very expensive for what they can deliver, some do last longer than others and I’m not going to tell you that it is 100% cure, but I will say it is certainly an aid when battling with light glare if you use glare blockers.

The products vary, I have seen products from plastic shields to a paste you apply on your windshield each with a little different approach and application. But this time of year is the time of year to start thinking about using these products and limit your liabilities. Get rid of windshield glare and Drive safe edgeolite.com

heavy duty snowplows- whats yours?

So you are interested in a heavy duty snowplow? Not to use on your driveway I hope.

Size up your equipment to the right job. Don’t use a 6 foot plow to plow a commercial parking lot or a highway. “Heavy duty snowplow” is a wide statement in general and needs to be a little more defined. I would not say that a 7 foot plow on a ½ ton truck is not heavy duty, but not the right kind of heavy duty for some snowplow jobs.

Heavy duty snowplows are used for commercial parking lot and highways and roadways.
It all has to do with pressure, frequency and weight. These are the forces these large plows are overcoming. Just look at the difference in the plow , start with a look at the frame , the amount of steel on the supports, the spacing of the supports behind the mold board, look at the size of the cylinders, the hydraulic lines, the rebound springs, and the cutting edges.

Most pickup’s could not even pick up these plows let alone plow with them. These plows are designed for front axle of 12,000lbs and up. You have to remember it is one thing to plow a driveway at 10 mph with a 6-7 foot plow it’s another to plow a 12’ highway lane at 45 mph hitting all kinds of expansion joints and ice patches. These plows are continually under stress that’s where frequency comes in and harmonious vibration and shock that can easily bend steel , break welds and bend the cutting edges.

So when companies like Wausau, Snogo, Frink America, Viking-Cives , make these plows design them to with the elements as well as the work load in mind. Some of the designs that these heavy duty snowplows have are: one way plows, reversible plows , v plows, wing plows, bull nose plows. Let’s not forget airport runways and the plows that need to keep an airport clear.

So, the reason I writing this is to try to give you a better under standing of exactly what a heavy duty Snowplow really is. I see a lot of people trying to sell snowplows and calling them heavy duty and in my opinion there not. Just like a 69 Camaro and a 69 Super Sport Camaro are not the same. A snowplow and a heavy duty snowplow are not the same. But at least this article is giving you some information to go off of when looking for a heavy duty or light duty snowplow. You basically want to match the right plow to the right job and if heavy duty is what you need make sure to get it. Ask the person selling you the plow and claiming is it heavy duty to show you the difference between the heavy duty and a regular snowplow.

Snowplow For Sale -What To Look For

So you are looking for a used snowplow truck to buy? Hey what the hell it’s less
then a new snowplow truck. Is it really? I guess that all depends on what you are doing and what you

are looking at to buy. The first thing I would have to think about if I was looking to buy a used snowplow truck, is what am I going to do with it? Will the snowplow truck be used for just my driveway? Will it be used for a residential snowplow account, mainly driveway work?. Or are you subcontracted by a municipality for snow removal on major road ways.

The answer to this questions is of major importants. OK, for the first application if your plowing just you own driveway an older snowplow truck that is being retired is fine, as long as all the major components work proper like the brakes, 4 wd, and the snowplow it self. If you are doing residential work you want
thoroughly check out the snowplow truck prior to buying because now that truck is your reputation.

Homeowners do not like to be told their driveway won’t be ready for them to go to work because your truck broke down. So when you are looking for a snowplow truck for sale you want to check out all the major components. Also run the plow makes sure everything works as it is suppose to. The other thing to keep in mind the brand of the truck, yes that’s right. You do not want to buy a snowplow truck that is
a special model because you will feel the pain when you need to get a part for it and you have to wait a few days instead of being in stock. Remember the auto parts stores stock what sells best not what doesn’t.

The next thing to consider is if you are subcontracted by a municipality, this is usually being paid be the hour for your snowplow truck and you. Remember, this is not start and stop type of plowing this is usually continuous plowing on town road ways. They will usually give you a certain section in your town to plow. When you are looking at snowplows for sale , you again want to keep this in mind.

You do not want a six foot snowplow, you will want a truck with an 8’ foot snowplow blade and with a rubber deflector. Good luck trying to plow a roadway with out a snowplow deflector on it at 30 mph or better. If you are looking at snowplow for sale this is what to look at, and do, pre-trip the truck first of all and that should cover all lights , tires ect. Then get on your creeper and start looking underneath check drive shafts, brake lines, cooler lines, wiring harness, fuel tank straps, exhaust and exhaust hangers, and check for fluid leaks. DO this inspection with the engine cold and then at operating temperature.

After dong that then cycle the plow many times not just once or twice why?, because, it takes a few cycles to warm up the hydraulic oil in the the snowplows system and then that’s usually when the seals start to leak, and need to be replaced. After the inspection, if everything seems up to snuff and in good working order then make the seller a fair offer. Try not to wait to long, because if the truck is in good shape and everything is fine someone will buy it. Time is money you do no want to spend the plow season looking for a truck especially if you found what you are looking for. I will come out with more on this topic on our snowplow Blog in the next few weeks in the mean, time happy hunting.

Snowplows- Then and NOW!

Snowplow creators were issued their patents for snow plows in the 1800s. Several years passed before the plow designs were put to use. The plow made of wood was attached to a cart drawn by a team of horses through the snow covered streets.
until the steam trains arrived and made their appearance several years later. They pushed their way through heavy drifts with giant plows attached to their front ends. Salt was used in a few cities, but was not appreciated because it ruined the streets for sleighing and damaged the shoes and clothing of pedestrians.

Plows were a necessity to city dwellers, enabling winter transportation to recover more rapidly from storms than in previous years. However, this solution was accompanied by a new round of problems, some of which remains with us today. Plowing cleared the main streets for traffic, but effectively blocked the side roads and sidewalks with huge, uneven mounds of compacted snow. Does this sound familiar to you? Businessmen and shop owners initially hailed the success of the plow, but later complained and even brought lawsuits against the plowing companies.

Gas and diesel engine’s also changed the snowplow machine , leading to motorized dump trucks and plows in the early 1900’s . Many cities rushed to update their snow removal fleets, abandoning most of their horse-drawn carts. In conjunction with the new trucks, cities began to use (Caterpillar tractors) known as “HOLT-Cat” equipped with plow blades. To haul the snow away, they used steam shovels, cranes, and railway cars to get the snow off the streets and dumped into the rivers, and water ways.
However, the need for laborers was a must to make sure the areas where snow removal machine could not get, the laborers could. Then Barber-Green snow loader, was successful and several cities purchased snow loaders that same winter. The snow loader was an ingenious piece of machinery. Riding on tractor treads, it was equipped with a giant scoop and a conveyor belt. As the snow was plowed, it was forced up , caught by the conveyor belt which carried it up and away from the street into a chute at the top where it was dropped into a dump truck parked underneath. It effectively made snow removal easier and more effective for the cities by making the process much less labor and time intensive.

However, this was all great. But you have to think of then and now to really get the understanding of how much we have advanced in snow removal from then until now. Back in the beginning of the 1900’s the word hydraulic wasn’t even in the vocabulary like it is today. The snow plow operators of that time was exposed to the winter climate as the were working removing snow in storms, they did not have a climate control cab. The plow designs where also primitive, They had big bull nose one way plows like you see on trains today . The ability to move snow from one side to the other while moving was not even an idea. Today an operator can change the radio with one button while moving snow with another button at the same time. Snowplows have certainly come along way. The advancement you can see just in the past 20 years. Snowplow pumps where driven on a belt off the engine pulley, the more you would rev the engine up the quicker the plow would move.

Now snowplows are run electrical over hydrualic with electric motors and solenoid valves, quicker ,lightweight, and can be installed in smaller area’s. There is also big change with using laser guided devices to assist the snowplow operator in locating the roadways he needs to plow, while looking at a big white blanket. Snow removal has come a long way and will continue to change in the next decade.

Snow Plow Prices - When To Buy

Snowplow prices what are the choices? Well years ago this was a much simpler answer
and a lot easier then today. Why is that? Because there are so many different models and
variations then the snowplows of years ago. I have always started off with simple method when it comes to truck snowplow equipment. I feel you always want to over spec the plow you need instead of getting into a snow plow that is under qualified to do the work you need it to.

With this is mind, whatever you buy will last through your work load with no break down. Plow prices are basically determined by how many options, features and the size and style you need to plow. Most of the time the determining factor in buying snowplow equipment, is; Should I replace my old plow because it is slow, or some parts are going to wear out soon and will be costly to replace. You don’t have to be a rocket scientist to see the improvements in plow designs in the last few years compared to 10 years ago. A new plow comes with no problems, and with much more options from a straight blade to vee plows to gang plows. After some research I have even found mail order snowplows that comes in a kit and you put it together for about $1,000.00 and more elaborate vee plows are priced for about
( $4,000-$6500 )

I look at snowplow prices , because a new snowplow is basically an investment in a piece of snowplow equipment , that should operate flawless for a duration of years with no other investment except its maintenance. That’s why snowplow prices are important and should be considered negotiable to a point.
The best time to shop for you new plow is not during high demand season. The first thing I do with the snowplow prices is go to some snowplow forums and hear what the users are saying about some of the brands. I would ask questions about the products. I would want to hear there likes and dislikes as well as their application of use. The application is important you want to make sure the plow is being used the same way you would be looking to use it.
Once I found the plow I think I would need I would then try to find the next plow up in size. I have always like to buy a piece of equipment that is made a little heavier than what I need because I want
To last. Then I would start to shop down the prices of the plow I want, I would try to get three bids from three different suppliers, just like consumers do to us. I would also try to get a fair trade in price for my old plow.
Ok so lets go over what we spoke about with snowplow prices. The first evaluation is what are you going to be using the snowplow for? Residential plowing commercial plowing, parking lots roads? Investigate what plow you feel fits your truck, watch your front end weight. Go to the forums and read about what the user are saying about the plow you are interested in. Find out what warranties and guarantees are offered with the new plows. Find out if the manufacturers offer you low interest financing. Then when you are ready to buy make sure it is off season or at the end of the seaon. Offer them a price 15% off retail see if the can move there numbers

Snowplow Equipment - What's the difference?

When it comes to snow equipment there are many different things you should know. I guess the first thing I would consider is what my application is. Am I plowing driveways? Parking lots? Or country roads or highways?
What it doesn’t matter! Wrong it does matter! The next thing to look at is the front gross axle weight of the truck you are putting the plow on. You want to have an idea of what the front end of your truck can support before putting a snowplow blade on.

I laugh, when I see a ½ ton truck with a 8 ft steel plow on the front of it and the poor truck suspension is struggling to keep the plow 1 inch off the ground as the driver passes you on the road. I think to myself when he hit’s a bump that’s going to hurt. So you want to make sure your truck can keep its front end height up enough where it is safe to go down the road and not have any problems.

The next thing when thinking about snowplow equipment is the shape. If you are plowing tight driveways with little room to push the snow you might want to consider the 7 foot VEE plow. But when shopping for this look at the size of the hydraulic cylinders steel support holding the swing frames and structures to the snowplow blade. Keep in mind that you want something that is easy for you to repair and maintain. Especially, if the plow goes down in a storm you do not want to spend a lot of time taking it a part to repair it. Some designs will vary do to patents and engineering this is something you want to look at. You want your snowplow equipment to last and the more movable parts the more that it can wear so make sure you get a well designed plow frame.

Let’s not forget the curve of the plow that’s also important, deeper the curve the more the roll when plowing and obviously the more shallow the snowplow blade curve the more push and resistance on the truck when plowing. The other thing we need to touch on is the materials they use now to manufactures snowplow equipment. Years ago it was basically steel frame and steel mold board. Why? because plastic and chemicals where not as advanced as they are now. There are plastic and urethane parts today that are on the market that can take more of a beating than any steel parts can in certain applications.

The advantage to these style snowplow equipment is they are lighter and faster in weight opposed to steel. Less stress on the front end of the truck. However these can also effect the down pressure of the snowplow blades when plowing. SO thats why I say snowplow equipment, WHATS THE DIFFERENCE, because what equipment you need in New England may not be what you need in Michigan. So take your time when deciding on what snowplow EQUIPMENT to use.

Snowplow blades - Not just the normal?

When it comes to snow blades there are many different things you should know. I guess the first thing I would consider is what my application is. Am I plowing driveways? Parking lots? Or country roads or highways?

Snowplow markers Snowplow reflectors- could save you money

Snowplow markers, snowplow reflectors and plow guides are they necessary? Anything that helps a driver be able to see in lower visible nights is basically a no brainer. When you are plowing at night which is when most roads are being cleared, so commuters can get to work. The less strain you put on your eye’s to see the better for a snow plow driver. They already work long hours to keep up against the snow storm , anything to give them less fatigue the better.

So in essence any type of snowplow markers or snowplow reflectors is a must to assist in professional snow removal. Another concern that is usually not talked about and something snowplowers should consider is snowplow safety. Remember that snowplowing is a business, which means they are responsible to make sure their vehicle’s are in safe condition on the roads, and that’s why most states have a yearly DMV inspection. Unfortunately for the snowplow operator and snowplow owners in today’s world, they could be liable in a lawsuit in the event of an accident with a other motorist. So you want to make sure as a snowplow operator that your snowplow equipment has the up to date safety snowplow markers, and reflectors. They assist passing vehicles in seeing the edge of your snowplow helping to avoid collision.

Not having these items on your plow could make you liable for safety negligence in the event of an accident. Something plow owner and snowplow operators should consider when they pre trip their trucks. To have snowplow reflectors installed are a very low cost to pay to make snowplowing easier on the driver as well as for the on coming motorist, when clearing roads in the treacherous winter weather. So the question you have to ask your self . Why would anybody not want to put these low cost snowplow parts and on their snowplow most would agree it is a no brainer to use a very easy to install snowplow reflectors and snowplow markers.

Truck Tires, Semi Tractor Trailer Tires

Truck tires are very important they are responsible for the large amounts of weight in transport for trucks and fleets. There are a wide range of sizes and brands to choose from. The more common name brands like Michelin, Bridgestone. Goodyear are usually more popular.

knowing and getting the correct types of tires that you need also depends on your type of transport and load weights, this is very important. Your daily driving distance , Load weights, long or short distance and driving locations, city or highway all play a part in the correct type of tire you should purchase.

Michelin Radial tires are manufactured for trucks. This tire has a large base and stands a large amount of inflation. They use a different kind of steel lining between the tread and the apex. The shuffle between the tread is much less in radial tires and the contact area with the ground does not alters at all even after the tire worn out. A bracing with metal is used in stabilizing the movement of the tread. The casing is of the cross ply model in radial tires that are manufactured for trucks by the Michelin team. They have greater resistance during rolling and the tire noise is very much less and in some cases there will be no noise at all.

Anti splash is a type of long distance tire for the trucks from Michelin. The new improved model has a tread that is 10 mm wider than the previous models for the front end tires. This model of tire is very versatile in nature and is aimed at producing very high mileage for the trucks. Other characteristics of anti splash XF2 is the grip during sudden brakes and the visibility range improvement. This is due to the anti splash deflector that will decrease the projection height of the water by a number of four.

XZU2T is a model of tire for trucks that have their driving range with in the city. The thread has a excellent resistance to impacts and other damages that occur during curbing. This also helps in improving the mileage of the vehicle in a different manner and compensates the mileage loss due to heavy traffic. They have better stability in case of heavy load and it is one of the risk free tires produced by Michelin. The cost is not so high which is the nature of the Michelin tires. The cost is mainly for the name of the brand.

keeping your tires inflated to the proper pressure is integral for the safety or yourself, your passengers, and other drivers on the road.

Buying Snowplow Blades

The numerous choices for purchasing a snowplow blade is definitely a little more involved. The past couple of decades the snowplow industry has greatly changed. the Industry has introduced many new products that make snowplowing easier, faster and safer.

There are things you really have to consider from makes to models and materials the blade is made of.
Check to see how easy it is too attach and detach. Are the controls easy for you to use, are the hydraulics made well, do you want poly or steel. These are decisions you have to make beforehand.

Snowplow blades come also in straight- blade and multi-position. This is the best place to start what type do you need or want. After making this choice you should decide on the material the poly is new and seems to be very popular is just as strong as steel scratches do not show because of the
multi-surface color saturation all the way through the plow and they do not rust.

The brands of the plow do matter along with the lights try and purchase a plow with a light assembly of HID they are brighter and last longer then even standard halogens.

It is a wise idea to take the time to assemble and disassemble the different styles to see if it is easy to attach and disconnect. Its very important to make sure the hydraulics are dependable and the controls are easy to use.

There are many ways to check online to see reviews about snow plows check snowplowing web site forums there are also questions and answers for problem shooting questions they tell a lot in regards to problems with plows and a lot of advice for which to buy.

Also be sure to take a look at some of the safety accessories and safety reflectors that can be added to your snow plow and snow plow blade for better visibility and safety on dark roads.

Fuel Saving Source for diesel trucks, homes

HHO heating home or truck diesel units for fuel savings great concept and fuel source. The units separate the hydrogen from the water and then burns it as the fuel. If installed correctly it is an incredible heat source and fuel saving device. It is both low in cost and environmentally friendly.

The HHO concept has triggered great controversy among many, but if its installed correctly whether in a diesel as an enhancer or home I can truthfully say it works. There are units and designs which do work better for many reasons but, if you are using a well built and correctly built unit you will be very happy with it.

HHO will change the way many people heat there homes. Water is an abundant and efficient energy source, it is only logical to utilize this gas to its practical purpose. Most units use as much power as an average home computer and will effectively heat an area of over 1000 square feet, depending on the unit size. With record cold and sky rocking heating bills water is the practical solution for all of us. It will help decrease the amount of fossil fuels being used for home heating and the unit itself burns absolutely clean. The only emission is heat and a small amount of moisture when some of the hydrogen recombines with oxygen to once again form water.

HHO is definitely a future fuel system that should be quickly adopted. Many people all over the world have home built or purchased working devices creating HHO gas for there heating source using little power any very little money.

Disassociating water into H and O have been known about and proven for over 20 years.
There is no expense in creating HHO gas, and there is no need to store it under high pressure as it can be safely created on-site, at low pressure, on demand. Using self-generated HHO to power our trucks or heating our homes is no more dangerous than using gasoline.

Trucking Safety and Visibility

As trucking continues to be a growing and continuously needed industry throughout the world, we must require to no avail the enforcement of safety and proper training.

The trucking industry is required to follow requirements for the proper training of drivers , licenses and certifications that must be in place depending on the type of truck and materials being transported. There are OSHA requirements, health and many safety standards that need to be complied with. Drug testing and driving records are frequently checked to assure safety and compliance.

Safety requirements and procedures are also to be followed as to the proper safety markings or markers displayed on the truck, trailer or tractor trailer. There are required safety lighting, and safety reflectors, some are standard and some features are added onto the trucks and trailers, by the companies or independent owners.

Enhancement to safety features to accomplish the best visibility on dark nighttime roads is always a great preventative addition to secure yours and others safety. Trucks are not always clearly seen at night, which in return can cause accidents. Placing more reflective good quality markings is a very important and smart action you should add to the parameters of your truck.

New Snowplow Feature Provides Cutting-Edge Safety During Dangerous Winter Weather

EDGEOLITE , a company with a mission to keep people safer on the roads, is excited to announce a new safety product -- the Edge-O-Lite(TM) -- a snowplow reflector designed so drivers can easily identify blade edges and avoid accidents.

Auto collisions with snowplows account for large insurance payouts and are costly to states, cities and towns. More importantly, injuries, property damage and even fatalities may occur.

When vehicles attempt to pass a snowplow, a common accident caused by catching the outer edge of the blade, may result. Or, the car is forced to veer off the road at the last minute, often ending up in an injurious or fatal crash.

"The Edge-O-Lite is made to increase the efficiency and safety of snowplow clearance operations," Antoinette Donofrio, company spokesperson, said. "Lives and money can be saved."

State, government and transportation safety agencies are continually searching for ways to make roads safer. Many have invested in comprehensive safety research programs, analysis projects, and collision avoidance studies to discover and implement new ways to make roads and people safer.

The Edge-O-Lite (http://www.EdgeOLite.com) is designed to increase the visibility of oncoming drivers and to decrease collisions. Highly visible reflectors illuminate the outer edge of the snowplow blades to allow for safe passage in hazardous winter driving conditions and to reduce deadly crashes.

The reflectors allow drivers to evaluate, in a timely manner, how far away they are or need to be for proper blade clearance.

When installed on the edge of a snowplow's blade, the innovatively-designed Edge-O-Lite(TM) attracts the oncoming car's headlights and reflects the light back to the driver, clearly lighting the blade's edge.

The product is highly visible and durable. It is designed to withstand harsh winter weather, is salt resistant, and easily installed.

"It's a low-cost solution for a serious problem," Donofrio said. "It also could reduce the stress of the snowplow driver by providing a higher level of safety."

New Flexible Safety Reflector For The Transportation Industry

If you are a heavy equipment carrier, wide load carrier you want to take every provision to make sure your vehicle and equipment is seen in the evening hours, or fog related days. With insurance cost rising for carriers, it is only wise to take every precaution to make sure your vehicle is visible. The purpose of this safety product is to increase visibility of the outer edges of earthmoving equipment during transport.

This new flexible designed product has effective countermeasure that could significantly reduce dangerous accidents and side ways crashes, during late evening hours. How does it work? The Edge O' lite patent pending technology creates the ability to be a flexible reflector to shape the machine tracks and loads hanging out over the side of your trailer.

Its quick connect device and flexible design enables it to attach where you need it on the extended object overhanging the trailer. No more flags falling off or the time it takes your driver to install them. Just snap them into place and that’s it. The product is made from washable materials for easy cleaning . The reflective part is made from tough durable reflective material that will illuminate with oncoming lights to make sure your cargo is seen by other vehicles at night. Every semi operator should keep a set in there cab for when they move wide loads. This new design has a much greater increase in visibility then the old conventional flags.

However, it is also designed to attach the safety flags if needed to it for additional exposure. Made from durable long lasting materials and comes in a set of four, yet small enough for easy storage. Made in the USA
